On the eve of International Day of Disabled people "Azercell Telekom" JV provided support to invalids.

“Azercell Telecom” JV always keeps in the centre of attention section of population, which needs social protection. On occasion of International Day of Disabled People the company has implemented two important projects to improve living conditions, educate and make easier movement of disabled people.

Within the framework of one of the projects the company donated “Six Dots” printing house, which has been operating under Azerbaijani Society of Blind People created in 1931, with the typographic equipment. “Six Dots” printing house prints special stereotyped patterns for membership certificates, forms and voting papers. Owing to the equipment donated by “Azercell Telecom” JV, the printing house could expand its activities and provide typographic services to population, enterprises and organizations, like printing, binding and etc. The printing house also publishes text books for boarding school for blind children or children with bad eyesight.

Non-governmental organization Azerbaijani Society of Blind People numbers about 9,000 registered disabled people – blind people of 1 and 2 category living in Azerbaijan. The registered disabled people provide services to 27 regional, 4 city branches of the society and 3 cultural houses. The typographical equipment donated by “Azercell” will satisfy needs of blind people in specialized manuals and will also help to partially resolve the problem of their unemployment. The society could produce various competitive goods and provide services to the consumer market and draw profit. The project could be regarded as the company’s contribution to implementation of the state program of economic development and poverty reduction.

In addition, the operator, which played a great role in dissemination of social responsibility culture among Azerbaijani entrepreneurs, has implemented the second project to provide support to disabled people. In a response to request of Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the company has bought 400 modern wheelchairs. The wheelchairs will help invalids, whose moving functions are limited on various reasons and who could not move without assistance.

The projects implemented by “Azercell Telecom” JV on the eve of International Day of Disabled People are a part of the company’s program of social investments and they will contribute to social rehabilitation and disabled people’s integration into the society. During 10 years of its activities in Azerbaijan, “Azercell” has spent more than $5 million within the framework of this program.
