Tero Kivisaari was appointed as new head of TeliaSonera Eurasia business area

Baku, April 26, 2007

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and deputy Chief Executive Officer(CEO), TeliaSonera Eurasia, Tero Kivisaari will as of May 1, 2007 assume the assignment as President TeliaSonera Eurasia. Kivisaari is 35 years old and holds double exams from Helsinki University of Technology and Helsinki School of Economics. He has been with TeliaSonera for ten years. Tero Kivisaari will replace Erdal Durukan who at his own decision will resign as from May 1, 2007.

“After 13 years of developing Telecom in Turkey, Central Asia and Eastern Europe, with Turkcell and Fintur, it is a natural step to make this decision. The years with TeliaSonera have been very prosperous - the whole region is going through an expansive and exciting period - and Business Area Eurasia constitutes today approximately one third of TeliaSoneras net result”, says Erdal Durukan.

“Tero Kivisaari has during the last five years had a very important role in developing our operations in Eurasia. He will provide us with the required continuity in our future efforts,” Anders Igel adds.

TeliaSonera Eurasia business area comprises the Fintur (74%) operations in Kazakhstan (Kcell), Azerbaijan (Azercell), Georgia (Geocell) and Moldova (Moldcell). The business area also is responsible for developing TeliaSonera's shareholdings in Russian MegaFon (44%) and Turkish Turkcell (37%).

The business area headed by Mr Erdal Durukan, currently President of TeliaSonera Eurasia by May 1, 2007. Being a honorary consul of Swedish Kingdom in Azerbaijan since 1998, Mr. Erdal Durukan created Azercell Telecom JV, the first in Azerbaijan GSM mobile communication operator, and was its general director during a long period. While he was working in Azerbaijan, Mr. Erdal Durukan has contributed not only to development of economy, but also education, health and cultural fields of our country.
