Women’s Media Watch-Azerbaijan honors Azercell Telecom LLC with award for its support in the field of media development

Uniting millions of people around its activities, Azercell Telecom LLC obtains another award. On this time, the Company is awarded Media Success Prize established by The Union of Women Journalists of Azermaijan (Women’s Media Watch-Azerbaijan) for its activity on the field of media development. Award Presentation Ceremony has been organized on the International Media Freedom Day.

Leaders of mass media and journalist organizations, head of OSCE Baku office, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway, UN Resident Coordinator to Azerbaijan and EU Azerbaijani Representative have participated in this event. Calling the free and safe press as an integral part of democracy, UN Representative Mr.Bruno Pouezat has called upon every participant to be active in fostering the freedom of expression. Mr.Joze Luis Herrero, Head of OSCE Baku Office has assessed the freedom of expression as the main pillar of fundamental freedoms of people.

Afterwards, winners of this Award have been given the diplomas. Women’s Media Watch has presented the Award called Media Success of the Year to Azercell Telecom LLC for its e activity on the field of media development in Azerbaijan. During the presentation ceremony, Ms.Sevinj Mirzayeva, Chairperson of Board of Directors of Women’s Media watch has said that Azercell Telecom LLC has always attache a high importance to its relations with media and supported the journalists as its own friends.

“Last year, Azercell has organized many projects in the framework of a new strategy called Development Sharing Platform to enable the development of professional journalism in Azerbaijan. Azercell has organized American specialist Deborah Potter’s lecture on Business Journalism, many visits of journalists to foreign countries, free English language courses for journalists, Article Contest called The Value that Unites Us, Writing Business News Training done in association with Reuters Foundation, first International Training for TV journalists in Azerbaijan and many other projects. Being always in touch with journalists, it has strived to be open with them and in this result, Azercell has been acknowledged as the Most Transparent Company in Azerbaijan by journalists. Recently, the Press Service of Azercell has been selected as the best PR service and it shows the progress in developing the relations” –said Sevinj Mirzayeva. Azercell Press Secretary Rufat Abbasov who has accepted this Prize on behalf of the Company has stressed his thanks to Women’s media Watch and all women journalists.

It should be noted that Women’s Media watch is the organization established jointly by women journalists working for printed and electronic media of Azerbaijan.
