Azercell Telecom becomes the Year’s Corporate Social Responsibility Company

The presentation ceremony for the National Public Award called “Leave No Child Out” has been held in the State Philharmonic Society named after M.Magomayev. We can witness also Azercell Telecom LLC among winners of this Award which is being presented for 7 nominations in total.

Every speaker of the presentation ceremony has underlined in particular the activities of Azercell Telecom in solving children problems. Mrs.Elmira Suleymanova, Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan (Ombudsman) has thanked Azercell Telecom for its assistance extended to the children in need: Azercell brings always joy to children. It renders its support and assistance to them. In this noble mission, Azercell has rich experience in supporting not only children, but also adults and even elderly“.

Ms.Hanna Singer, UNICEF Representative in Azerbaijan has expressed her confidence that the role played by private sector is crucial to build sound society in Azerbaijan. She has noted that Azercell’s activities in the field of assistance to children can be an example to other companies in the country.

Mr.Nabil Seyidov, National Coordinator of Azerbaijan NGOs Alliance for Children Rights has underlined that this Award “Leave No Child Out” will be presented to organizations which attach importance to Corporate Social Responsibility, and not to charity companies. In his opinion, such Award will encourage Azerbaijani companies to be more responsible in this area.

For the first time, it is indeed Azercell Telecom LLC has deserved this Award in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility. The Year’s Corporate Social Responsibility Company Award has been presented to Mr.Halim Ateş, Azercell Telecom CEO. Mr. Ateş has said about the importance of this Award for them: “I do hope that a day will come and we will see no children left without care any longer. But we have some work to do till that day.” Mr.Halim Ateş has pointed out that the Company will continue to be helpful in solving children problems and treat this field of social responsibility more seriously.

The National Public Award “Leave No Child Out” has been established by Azerbaijani NGO Alliance for Children Rights. This is already the third year that it is presented to companies and individuals for their activities in the field of promotion and protection of children rights. The main objective in establishing this Award is to evaluate organizations and individuals working for children and with them and try to mobilize the public attention to their work. Founders have studied public opinion and the views of Alliance members to determine a winner of the Award.

It should be noted that being always active in solving children problems, it is already the third year that Azercell Telecom is given the National Public Award – “Leave No Child Out”. We have to recall that first international conference entitled “Investing in Future” with its main idea - “We are responsible for our society, as well as for our business” were held in May in Baku by the initiative of Azercell Telecom which promotes Corporate Social Responsibility in Azerbaijan and with the support of Azerbaijan NGO Alliance for Children Rights and UNICEF.
