Support To Culture and Art“Azercell Telecom” JV places special emphasis on support of the arts and the culture of Azerbaijan.
Azercell Telecom LLC provided its support in publication of the book «History of Salvation of Baku», written by Nasiman Yagublu, senior teacher of Baku State University, candidate of historical sciences. The book is dedicated to 90 years anniversary of liberation of Baku by Turkish soldiers (September 15, 2008). Due to realization of such a project, the public will get information on the important period of XX century history of Azerbaijan. The book will contain rich and new archive materials, also interesting photos, documents and facts related to Turkish officers who liberated Baku. Also, the book investigates self-sacrifice of the soldiers and Nuru Pasha, who played an important role in liberation of Baku. The main goal of the Project is to describe support of Turkey to liberation of Baku by facts, explain salvation efforts of Turkish soldiers and investigate the historical importance of Azerbaijan-Turkey relations.
In 2006 our company gave a financial support to the exhibition of Honoured Artist Elbey Rzaguliyev, regarding his 80th anniversary. At the exhibition presented more than 70 paintings of the author, devoted to Baku, Absheron and other regions of Azerbaijan.
Also, in 2005 under the organization of our company, an exhibition was held in Exhibition Center named after Sattar Bahlulzadeh. This exhibition was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Honoured Artist Vajiha Samadova, the first woman painter of Azerbaijan, and the 85th anniversary of the prominent painter, Honoured Latif Feyzullayev. It should be mentioned that exhibitions of this couple were held in Baku, Moscow, and Sofia more than once. Due to colour shades, national coloring, and great mastery, their works were displayed in museums all over the world.
Azercell Telecom LLC is sponsoring Intellectual Games «What? Where? When», which is a support to the development of intellectual youth of Azerbaijan. Games of the Club are broadcasted on Space TV channel in each season of the year.
With the support of our company, the concert named «Remembering Great Artists» was held in Azerbaijan State Philarmony, named after M. Magomayev. This event was dedicated to the 120th anniversary of our great composer, Uzeir Hajibayov. Moreover, we organized a personal exhibition of the young artist, Aida Mahmudova, in the lobby of the Philarmony. Ludwig Van Beethoven's five (5) works for piano and orchestra were played by pianist Murad Adıgozalov in this event. Due to the support of our company, a musical disc was produced, featuring Murad Adıgozalov - laureate of international competitions, soloist of Moscow State Philarmony and associate professor of Azerbaijan State Philarmony. This disc was given the title of “Selections from Piano Music of Azerbaijan”.
“Azercell” also provided support for the organization of concerts and the production of video clips of People's Artists of Azerbaijan; that is, professors - Fidan Gasimova and Khuraman Gasimova. By treating them as "living legends" of our country, “Azercell” is planning to continue, in the future, its support to these tenors who are well known around the world.
It should be mentioned that it was “Azercell” who supported the organization and recitals of the People's Artists of Azerbaijan, Mirza Babayev and Nasiba Zeynalova, when they were still living. We think it our duty to appreciate our great artists.
In 2005 and 2006, we also made our contribution to the development of jazz in Azerbaijan. These years Baku was the focus of jazz fans of the world. “Baku Jazz Festival” was held in the capital of Azerbaijan, with the support and organization of our company. As it was promised, artists, who are known world-wide, like Herbie Hancock, Al Jerou, were invited to the festival. Local jazz groups also participated in the festival. Jazz-lovers still remember that jazz festival in Baku.
In 2006, we took a very important step for the culture of Azerbaijan. Our company purchased the grand piano of the prominent composer of Azerbaijan - Gara Garayev, and repaired it. “Azercell” also repaired the Assembly Hall of the Azerbaijan National Conservatoire and presented the grand piano of our great composer to the Conservatoire. This instrument, which is invaluable for our culture, will be used and preserved in the center of culture and art.
One of the projects, implemented by “Azercell Telecom” in the first half of 2006, was the concert of popular Turkish pop-star Mustafa Sandal, which was organized in Baku boulevard along. Thousands of people came to this grandiose concert, dedicated to 1-year anniversary of “GencSim” package.
May 31, 2005, the day of “Last Bell Ring”, was an unforgettable day for school leavers. On that day we organized a grand concert on Baku Boulevard with participation of famous stars of Russia and Azerbaijan and launched the “GencSim” project. Every year on the last day of school, our company surprises the youth leaving school with different projects.
During «Campaign of Millions», held from July 1, 2005 to September 30, 2005, we organized a concert tour of our Honoured Artist Zulfiyya Khanbabayeva called «My Dear Motherland!» in 6 cities and regions of our Republic. Audiences, totalling 600,000 people, watched these concerts. Recently, our company has provided support to the release of a disc by Zulfiyya Khanbabayeva, «Without You», and production of the clip “Azerbaijan".
