“Azercell” Page in National Sports History

During recent years, the sports news of Azerbaijan has been the focus of society. Achievements, gained by our sportsmen, also stimulate their supporters. Our company became the telecommunications sponsor of the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee in the XXVIII Summer Olympic Games, held in 2004 in Athena. Our company provided the sportsmen with mobile telephones and international communications in Athena. “Azercell” also organized a party and concert for them. Photos

Moreover, our company also provided organizational support to the World Championship on Rhythmic Gymnastics, held in Baku. It is our duty to support professional and amateur sportsmen of Azerbaijan. Therefore, together with the Championship on Rhythmic Gymnastics, our company provided its support to a football tournament in 2005, held with the participation of Azeri-Turkish businessmen and the volley-ball club of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies. The Chess tournament for I Presidential Cup, which was held with the support of our company in Baku, became a field of action for masters of this game. Thirty-two (32) chess players of Azerbaijan were fighting for the main prize. Winners and participants of the tournament were awarded valuable prizes. Photos

Azercell Telecom LLC is sponsoring the women volleyball team "Rabita Bakı" (AZE) since 2004 year. With the support of the company the team has gained much success during this period. In September of 2005 year the team was awarded with gold medal of International Sports Games of CIS countries held in Baku. In June of last year the team was awarded silver medal of the game held in Minsk under the slogan «Friendship, peace and health» and silver medal of the Republican Volleyball Championship held in 2007-2008 years. This year the women volleyball team "Rabita Bakı" (AZE) will participate in "CЕВ CUP 2008-2009" tournament organized by European Volleyball Confederation.

In May, 2006 new football tournament was started among corporate subscribers of “Azercell Telecom” JV. In conducting this Mini Football Tournament, "Azercell"s aim was to strengthen friendship relations among the companies, to help corporate subscribers to spend their free time more efficiently, to protect their health and to develop football in Azerbaijan. AZERCELL TELECOM с 2004-го года спонсирует женскую волейбольную команду «Rabitа Baku» (AZE). При поддержке предприятия команда достигла больших успехов за этот период. В сентябре 2005-го года команда удостоилась золотой медали в Международных Спортивных Играх стран СНГ, проводимых в Баку.

Команда завоевала серебряные медали в июне прошлого года в играх, проводимых под лозунгом «Дружба, мир и здоровье» в г. Минске и в Республиканском чемпионате по волейболу в 2007-2008 гг. В этом году женская команда по волейболу «Rabitа Baku» (AZE) завоевала право участвовать в турнире «CEB CUP 2008-2009», организованном Европейской Волейбольной Конфедерацией.
